What I learn from this week's emerging technology class - week six
I am so sorry!π₯ I did not go to the class this Thursday because there was an advanced web exploitation seminar, and I learned a lot about security. I promise I will be in the classroom next week!
Ok, let's continue last week's topic, IOS 18!
Unlike the rush of big companies to release standalone chatbots, Apple has chosen to integrate AI features into the apps and products users are already using, blending them into everyday scenarios. This way, Apple's AI capabilities go far beyond what standalone chatbots can do. It can smartly edit photos, generate notes and text summaries, automatically transcribe voice memos, and more. Apple uses its own developed internal models for simpler AI features while relying on more powerful external models like GPT for more advanced and complex AI functions.
But here's the catch! This smart feature requires chip power and is only available on the iPhone 15 Pro and laptops with M-series chips. As an iPhone 15 user, I'm pretty bummed about this.
Additionally, user privacy has become a focal point of discussion. Elon Musk has publicly declared that due to "data security" reasons, he will ban his companies from using iPhones. Although Apple emphasizes using private clouds for computing, whether data can leak to third parties or hackers remains a critical concern for us to watch out for.
